“Mothers in Siberia” at the LAMPA Conversation Festival

We invite you to visit the Conversation Festival “Lampa” in Cēsis Castle Park on July 11, where at 11:00 a.m. the conversation “Mothers in Siberia” organized by the “Children of Siberia” Foundation will take place on the Dzirkstele stage.

This conversation will be dedicated to Latvian women – mothers who, after deportations to Siberia, in inhumane conditions, were able to protect their children, families and humanity. Based on documentary evidence and personal memoirs, we will talk about the strength, endurance, hope and ability of mothers to maintain humanity even in the darkest moments of life.

During the conversation, fragments from the book “Mothers in Siberia” will be heard, memories of the years of deportation, childhood in Siberia, return to Latvia and the values that these women have passed on to future generations. This will be an opportunity not only to get to know our history through living people’s stories, but also to reflect on the importance of memory, identity and historical justice in our time.
