On October 30, 2025<\/strong>, as part of the release of the book \u201cMothers in Siberia\u201d<\/em>, the \u201cChildren of Siberia\u201d Foundation<\/strong> is organizing an international conference on the role of women in the deportations of 1941 and 1949<\/strong>. The event will take place in Riga, at the European Union House<\/strong>. The book launch<\/strong> will begin at 2:00 PM<\/strong>. In the early 2000s, while creating the film \u201cChildren of Siberia\u201d<\/em>, we interviewed people who, as children, had been deported to Siberia in 1941. During this process and later, while conducting expeditions to former deportation sites in Siberia, we also met and interviewed the mothers of those deported children<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The book \u201cMothers in Siberia\u201d<\/em> brings together fragments from these interviews with the mothers and their children<\/strong>, who were deported on June 14, 1941<\/strong>. This book is about their memories and stories<\/strong>. It is a timeless tribute to Latvian Mothers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Funded by the European Union.
